Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground

Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground is located in the city of Rajkot, Gujarat. The stadium was set up in the year 1986. Since then, it has been the venue for 10 International ODI matches. Apart from international matches, the ground also hosts first class matches at the domestic level for different championships.

It has so far hosted 86 first class matches. It is also the home ground for the Saurashtra cricket team. The stadium is owned by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation and its operation is in the hands of the Saurashtra Cricket Association. Recently, a proposition has been made to add this ground as one of the venues for the next edition of IPL (Indian Premier League).

Stadium Features

The architect of the stadium is Vinod Makesana. The stadium has a capacity of seating 15,000 spectators which is expected to grow according to renovation plans. The two ends of the ground are called as Pavilion End and Airport End. The stadium provides excellent hospitality to the players and athletes who come to play over there with well furnished and equipped dressing rooms and every adequate requirement. Even the spectators are taken well care of. Spectators are provided with proper drinking water facilities and refreshments. One drawback of this stadium is that it is not facilitated with floodlights.

The highest partnership in this ground is between the two star players of India, Sourav Ganguly and Virendra Sehwag. Yuvraj Singh holds the record for being the highest individual scorer. This is a renowned stadium located in Rajkot. The Agra Airport, at a distance of few kilometers from the stadium, is the reason of which flights serves as a better mode of transportation. The Agra railway station is also situated close to the stadium. Thus, railways also serve as a mode of transport. The city roads are hi-tech enough for transportation by buses and private cars.
