Sardar Patel Stadium
Sardar Patel Stadium is a Cricket Stadium located in Ahmadabad, Gujarat. It was established in the year, 1982 and was earlier known as Gujarat Stadium. This stadium was named after the famous Hero of India, Late Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is now owned by the Indian Army.

As the stadium is beside the Sabarmati River, so often the ground is covered with dew, which creates problems during matches.
Sardar patel Stadium has two ends namely; the Adani Pavillion end and the GMDC end.

This stadium hosts both test matches and one-day international matches. The first test match was played on 12th November, 1983 between India and West Indies, while the same for one-day match was held on 5th of October, 1984 between India and Australia.
The Saradar Patel Stadium has witnessed many records on its ground. The great Indian Batsman Sunil Gavaskar crossed his 10, 000 runs mark in this very ground.
Renowned Indian Bowler Kapil Dev took his 9 wickets in a single innings and crossed his 432 wicket mark in this ground.
This stadium hosted the ODI series between India and Australia, in the year of 1983. The first match of the 1996 Cricket World Cup was played here in this ground.
The last international test match was held on 3rd of April in 2008, between India and South Africa. On 28th October, 2006, the one-day match between India and West Indies was the last one to be played here till date.

The Sardar Patel Stadium is located at Ahmedabad, in Gujrat. The Ahmedabad Railway station lies very close to the stadium and trains are most convenient as a mode of transport. The Sardar Vallabbhai International Airport is at a few hours distance from the stadium, so even airways serves as a good mode of transport. Apart from all this, the city bus stand lies close to the stadium so buses and private cars also serves as a well to do mode of transport.
