Ado.Net Data Services

The Ado.net data services expose data representing as EDM objects which are accessed over the web services of HTTP. It can also be addressed using REST like URI. The web services can be configured to return the data either in XML or JSON or RDF+XML. In the initial formats RSS and ATOM are not supported but using other HTTP methods like PUT, POST, DELETE the required data can be updated.

In Ado.net data services POST is used to create new entities, PUT is used to update the entities and DELETE is used to delete any entity.
The URIs is actually the representative of the Data which contains the physical location and name of the services. Along with it also specifies an EDM Entity Set or a specific entity instant.

These services also include a list of client libraries. The libraries are used one for the general .NET framework applications and the other for silver light based application. These libraries render and object based program model which access the Ado.net data services from .NET framework and Silverlight.
