IPL Teams

Indian premier league (IPL) is being conducted by BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) under the license ship of INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL (ICC) from the past two years. The last season of IPL’08 took place in India and this year’s 09 took place in South Africa. IPL is a 20-20 format game recently added in cricket diary.

Teams and the Franchise

IPL comprises of 8 different teams from all over India, namely the teams are
1. RAJASTHAN ROYALS (RR) owned by Ultratech Cement
2. CHENNAI SUPER KINGS (CSK) owned by giant Aircel Telecom
3. DELHI DAREDEVILS (DD) owned by GMR builders
4. DECCAN CHARGERS (DC) owned by Deccan Chronicle
5. KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS (KKR) owned by Red Chillies Entertainment
6. ROYAL CHALLENGER BANGALORE (RCB) owned by beer giant Vijay Mallya
7. MUMBAI INDIANS (MI) owned by business tycoon Mukesh Ambani
8. KINGS XI PUNJAB (KXIP) owned by the duo of bubbly Priety Zinta and Bombay Dyeing supreme Ness Wadia.

Teams Captain

This year’s IPL saw an upliftment in the game of cricket as it saw that cricket is also a bowler’s game. This year’s finalist teams (DC and RCB) showed how unpredictable the game of cricket is. Yes, these were those two teams which were last on points table in the first edition of IPL’08 and this time around they showed how badly a captain can affect on teams performance as it was this time all different captains for both these teams as their respective franchise owner thought that Veteran Australian wicket keeper ADAM GILCHRIST is the right choice in place of VVS LAXMAN in DC team and also saw a same type of change in RCB as KEVIN PEITERSON filled the shoes of RAHUL DRAVID.

RR is being captained and coached by the leggie spinner SHANE WARNE, CSK is being captained by India’s youth charm MS DHONI, DD is being captained by the aggressive opener VIRENDRA SEHWAG, KKR is being captained by New Zealander BRENDON MCCULLUM, MI is being governed by the maestro SACHIN TENDULKAR, KXIP is being captained by the Punjabi munda YUVRAJ SINGH.
