Bombay Flying Club

The Bombay Flying Club is a pilot flight training institute located in Mumbai, India. It is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the government of India; it offers its students DGCA approved training courses in Flight training Commercial and private, Aircraft maintenance and Engineering, Engine and Instrument Overhaul shop, and aircraft maintenance services. The institute was recognized in 1928 and its first student to receive a pilot’s license was the late J.R.D. Tata in 1929, known as the father of civil aviation in India today.

Mr. R levy one of its first members also constructed an aircraft here called the Monsoon and successfully flew the aircraft for over 50 hours, another feat of the institute was when Rev Father Constantine flew an illuminated aircraft at night for advertisement purposes over the city of Mumbai.

The Bombay flying club has trained some of the finest pilots in India’s aviation history and was a key instrument in the Second World War training many young novices for the Indian air force.

Another achievement of the institute was when the Tiger Moth and the Sentinel L-5 which belonging to this institute was used to aero tour Poona and this achievement has not yet been matched by any other institute.
