IPL HIGHLIGHTS

The Indian Premier league (IPL) set a milestone in the history of Indian Cricket on March, 2008, when its first session was held. Two sessions of IPL has already taken place. The first one was held in India whereas the last session was played in South Africa. The craze of IPL among the cricket fans all over the World is increasing year by year.

A total of eight teams participated in this tournament. Namely, the teams are Deccan Chargers (DC) – Hyderabad owned by Deccan Chronicle, Delhi Daredevils (DD) – Delhi owned by GMR Builders, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – Punjab owned by the duo Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – Kolkata owned by Red Chilies Entertainment (Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla), Mumbai Indians (MI) – Mumbai owned by Mukesh Ambani, Rajasthan Royals (RR) – Rajasthan owned by Ultratech Cement, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) - Chennai owned by Aircel and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Bangalore owned by Vijay Mallya.

Highlights

IPL is a twenty-twenty format game which is the latest version of modern Cricket. The finalist of the second edition of the IPL, Deccan Chargers (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were the bottom most teams of the first edition of IPL’08. The first season of IPL was won by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and this year’s IPL was won by the Deccan Chargers under the leadership of veteran Australian Adam Gilchrist.

This year’s top three teams including the finalists and Delhi Daredevils booked their places in the inaugural champion League conducted by BCCI which will see a total of twelve teams from all over the World playing for the prestigious Champion League title.

On the last day of the tournament, we saw Bollywood Queen Katrina Kaif sharing the ramp with World famous pop star Akon, leading to a fantabulous ending ceremony.
