Punjab Cricket Association Stadium was established in the year 1993. The stadium was built to raise the standard of cricket in the state of Punjab. The stadium took twenty five crore rupees and took an entire three year for completion. The Punjab Government Cricket Association is the owner of the above cricket ground.

The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium is located in Mohali, just outside the city of Chandigarh. This stadium is the main ground for the home team Punjab. It is the second international cricket stadium for the Punjab state and is approved by the BCCI.

The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium is one of the best stadiums in terms of infrastructure. The stadium has a seating capacity of over 40,000 people at a time. The stadium also has two ends that provide a 360 degree view to the spectators. One of them is known as Pavilion End and the other is known as the City End. The lighting system that is observed in this stadium is unconventional as the heights of the lights are not that as compared to the regular ones. The reason for this is the local airport that is located very close to the stadium.

Outlook of Punjab Cricket Association Stadium

The first match that was played here was a One Day International match between India and West Indies on 22nd of November, 1993. Also, this stadium is the 19th ground to be established and is amongst the youngest ground that is the venue of the various Test matches and also supports a lush outfield.
